Keep up without opening the app.
Ask Siri who’s due, glance at a widget, or log a catch-up straight from the Lock Screen. The app is there when you want it and out of the way when you don’t.

Ask Siri

Siri knows Howdy Mate! from the start, so there’s nothing to set up:
- Who’s due in Howdy Mate?
- Log a check-in in Howdy Mate
On iOS 26 the Who’s Due answer comes as a card with Log and Snooze buttons. Every action is in the Shortcuts app too, so you can log texts automatically.
Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets

The Home Screen widget shows how many mates need you and who’s next, and the medium size adds a Log button. Lock Screen widgets show how many are ready and who’s next.
Pin one mate to a widget of their own to see where you stand with them and log a catch-up in one tap.
Control Center, the Action button and Spotlight
- On iOS 18, put a Log control in Control Center, on the Lock Screen or on the Action button
- type a mate’s name into Spotlight to open their page
- press and hold the app icon to text whoever has waited longest, log a catch-up or add a mate
Straight from a notification

Press and hold a reminder to log the catch-up from the Lock Screen, with a note if you like. The app stays closed.

Your questions, answered
Does it work with Siri?
Yes. Ask “Who’s due in Howdy Mate?” or “Log a check-in in Howdy Mate” with nothing to set up, and every action is in the Shortcuts app. On iOS 18 there’s also a Log control for Control Center, the Lock Screen and the Action button, and you can type a mate’s name into Spotlight to open their page. Siri and Spotlight can’t reach your mates while the app lock is on.
Can I put one friend on my Home Screen?
Yes. Add the Pinned Mate widget, touch and hold it, tap Edit Widget and pick a mate. It shows their name, whether they’re due and your last catch-up, and its Log button logs the way you usually catch up with them without opening the app. Add one for each person you want to keep close, on the Home Screen or the Lock Screen.
Go on, say howdy.
